Get ready to dive into the exciting world of Coding & Robotics! This is an introductory course, helping to guide you to your chosen phase + everything you need to start learning immediately.

What Will You Learn?

  • Each course phase follows a structured, practical curriculum designed to build your skills progressively.
  • ✅ Foundation Phase: Start with basic commands, ScratchJr, and simple robot movements.
  • ✅ Intermediate Phase: Learn Scratch, create interactive projects, and explore micro:bit programming.
  • ✅ Senior Phase: Transition to text-based coding with Python, build web pages, and tackle robotics challenges.
  • ✅ FET Phase: Master advanced Python, develop IoT projects, and build full-stack web apps.
  • ✅ Beyond School: Gain essential digital literacy, create coding projects, and build a personal portfolio.
  • ✅ Adult School: Build practical computer skills, start coding, and explore robotics at your own pace.

Course Curriculum

Course Introduction
Objective: To deliver an engaging, curriculum-aligned coding and robotics program that serves both formal school learners and underserved communities. The program is designed to build foundational digital literacy and progressively advance learners’ skills in coding, robotics, and AI—ensuring they are job-ready or prepared for further study. Phase 1: Primary School Grades R – 7 (split into Grade R–3 and Grade 4–6) Basic digital awareness, visual programming (Scratch Jr.), playful robotics Phase 2: Intermediate School Grades 8 – 9 Strengthening problem-solving; introduction to block-based coding and basic robotics Phase 3: Senior School Grades 10 – 12 Transition to text-based coding, robotics programming, and collaborative problem solving Phase 4: FET Phase Grades 10 – 12 Advanced computational skills, IoT projects, web development, and comprehensive robotics Phase 5: Private Students (Matriculants & College) Post-Matric / Undergraduates Flexible digital literacy, advanced coding, robotics, portfolio building, and career-readiness Phase 6: Private Students (Non-Matriculants) Non-school attendees / Jobseekers Practical digital skills, basic coding/robotics, and readiness for workforce entry or freelancing

Welcome to the Coding and Robotics course! We are confident that you will find this journey exciting. Please pay attention to the announcements via various platforms and be sure to respond timeously. A lot of the work is self-paced, and as such, we ask that you not wait for the live classes but to head on to your course's page and look for any available tasks and proceed with them. Your facilitators will be available to assist you during and beyond the class sessions.

Please head onto the Curriculum tab on your courses' page, and begin with the first task.

Please also note that you need to complete all the tasks in your Registration/Orientation course before you begin your next registered course.

By the end of this course, you should have visited the following external pages: 'google classroom', 'code.org', typing.com'. There are some activities and quizzes waiting for you.
